*1952 in Oberhausen
lives in Dresden, Berlin and Lublin
1969-75 studied dance
1975 – 1987 numerous solo dances, video films and art events
1980 foundation of a branch of the ‘Free International University’ (FIU) in Essen, with Rainer Borgemeister.
Since 1982 travels in Poland.
Since 1984 development of pictorial and performative works in a continuous dialogue with the aesthetic and epistemological foundations of modernity.
1997 participation in ‘documenta X’.
Since 1998 professor at the ‘Dresden Academy of Fine Arts’ with a main focus on Methodological research on mixed forms of mental and empirical cultural content
especially in the form of travel projects in Eastern Europe (Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Czech Republic, and Ukraine)
Since 2006 stays and projects in Lublin.
2009 awarded with the Käthe-Kollwitz-Price of the Berlin Academy of Arts
2014 foundation of The Lublin School, a mobile institute for the study of Jewish themes in authentic places of learning in south-east Poland
Since 2015 SYMBOL gotowe / sklep. Renting a former tailor shop in Lublin as a public project space for the vivid presentation of European cultural archives.
